Section 4. Supplemental (Non-Vacancy Specific) Outreach/Recruitment Activities Undertaken by WILL/Illinois Public Media during reporting period 8/1/10-7/31/11.

Continuation of Internship Program.; Illinois Public Media maintained an internship program with Parkland Community College in Champaign, Illinois, offering internships for credit in six skill areas of broadcasting.; Two students completed internships for credit during spring semester 2011 in TV Traffic and in Graphic Arts for TV promotional materials.

Participation in events relating to career opportunities sponsored by educational institutions.

Oct. 26 & 28, 2010: BroadcastAnnouncing students from Parkland College toured the WILL AM and FM studios.; Observed live talk/interview show, classical music host, demonstration of edit and automation programs for “cyber-jocking”, recording and uploading techniques.

January 2011: TwoIPM employees, Henry Radcliffe and Sean Powers, participated in the Twentieth Annual Eighth Grade Career Conference in Savoy, Illinois, presenting information about broadcasting careers in news reporting, multimedia journalism, and video production.

March 30, 2011: News reporter Sean Powers gave a presentation to a Journalism class at the University of Illinois about broadcasting careers in multimedia and convergence journalism.

April 5, 2011: Project Next Generation middle school students from the Douglas Branch Public Library toured the IPM broadcasting facilities, including TV Studio, TV Master Control Room, and FM Studio.; Observed demonstration of radio automation and traffic programs for editing, recording and uploading audio content.

May 4 & 10, 2011: Multimedia Production and Broadcast students from University Laboratory High School in Urbana, Illinois were given tours of the WILL Radio and Television facilities and the Richmond Broadcast Teaching Studio.; They observed demonstrations of New Media techniques, audio editing, content automation and delivery, radio and television master control operations.
