Bob Boesdorfer is Senior Vice-President, Commercial and Agribusiness Banking, First Midwest Bank, in Danville, Illinois. He was born and raised on a 500 acre grain and hog farm in Sangamon County and he received his agricultural economics degree from Illinois State University in 1975. Bob served as Executive Fieldman for the University of Illinois Farm Business Farm Management Program from 1981 to 1998. First Midwest Bank ranks first in the state of Illinois by ag loan volume among banks.
Parry Dixon is ADM Economist at ADM Corporate headquarters in Decatur, Illinois. Parry joined ADM in 1984. As ADM Economist, he is responsible for economic analysis in addition to price forecasting for commodities. Prior to joining ADM, Parry worked for a large brokerage firm in Chicago, Illinois. In total, he has 26 years of experience in agricultural economics. Parry grew up on a small crop farm in Idaho with dairy and beef operations. He received a bachelor of science degree in agronomy from Brigham Young University. Parry went on to graduate with both a masters of science degree and a doctorate degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Meteorologist Ed Kieser has been with AM 580 since 1987. Ed holds the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) from the American Meteorological. Ed was just the 11th person in the country and the first in Illinois to receive the award, which is the highest broadcast certification from the AMS. Ed was named 2001 Best Media Personality by readers of the Champaign-Urbana weekly, The Octopus. And he has been awarded a University of Illinois Campus award for Excellence in Public Engagement for his work on tornado safety. Ed also teaches weather classes at the University of Illinois and at Parkland College in Champaign.
Glen Ring is one of the nation’s most respected market analysts. With more than 35 years in the marketplace as a producer, hedger, broker, trader, technical analyst, researcher, seminary speaker and newsletter editor Glen brings a rich perspective to his work. Currently, Glen is President of Iowa-based Glen Ring Enterprises, which provides information, education, research and support to his fellow traders, analysts and leaders in the futures industry. Glen produces the bi-weekly View On Futures newsletter and the View On Futures daily update.
Gary Schnitkey is a professor and farm management specialist in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, University of Illinois. His activities focus on farm management and risk management including crop insurance evaluation. Gary has focused on aiding farmers in understanding the risk and return tradeoffs of different crop insurance policies. Gary is a co-developer of several on-line and and spreadsheet tools. Three of these are the 1) Ifarm Premium Calculator – a web-based tool that provides side by side comparisons of insurance premium, 2) Ifarm Insurance Evaluator – a web-based tool that provides risk-return evaluations of insurance products, and 3) Marketing and Crop Insurance Risk Model – a spreadsheet that evaluates alternative crop insurance and marketing strategies. Gary grew up on a grain and hog farm in northwest Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University and a Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
Murray Wise is CEO and chairman of the Westchester Group. Murray is recognized as an industry authority in agricultural investment, valuation and management. He has written two books on these topics, Investing in Farmland and Farmland Investment Strategy. He has appeared on numerous news shows and is quoted regularly by the media. Westchester has grown to operate in six states and manages about a half billion dollars in agricultural assets, including apples, citrus fruits, wine grapes, and almonds. Murray earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University.
