In 1981, in his 36th year, the famous violinist Itzhak Perlman recorded the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Carlo Maria Giulini. This was Perlman's first recording of the Beethoven Concerto, and a critic has called it the first great digital recording of this masterwork. Perlman recorded this concerto again, but in the opinion of many, this recording deserves its place in the EMI series of greatest recordings of the 20th century. On Saturday at 11, you will hear this famous recording.
