Composer Sergei Prokofiev. Wikipedia

The Fifth Symphonies of both Sergei Prokofiev and Dimitri Shostakovich both premiered at significant moments in the composers' careers. Shostakovitch's Fifth won back for the composer the role of Stalin's favorite composer, and Prokofiev's Fifth was a triumph just at a turning point in the Second World War. Both symphonies were soon recorded by famous conductors. You can hear samples of these recordings on Saturday at 11.
