The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mozart’s “25th Piano Concerto” from New York, Brahms’ “Double Concerto” from Chicago, Stravinsky’s “Violin Concerto” from San Francisco, Strauss’ “An Alpine Symphony” from Carnegie Hall, then Sunday music of Mozart from Lincoln Center and music by Schubert on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear chamber music by George Crumb  on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear music by Bach, Britten , and Kodaly on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”.  Michael Tilson Thomas leads the San Francisco Symphony in an all-Mahler program You’ll hear the “1st Symphony in D Major” and the Adagio movement from the uncompleted “10th Symphony in F# Major”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas leads the group in Mahler’s “7th Symphony in E Minor”  Also on the program Brahms’ “2nd Orchestral Serenade in A Major.”

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. The Chicago Symphony Chorus is featured in three works: Verdi’s “Patria opressa! From Macbeth, Puccini’s “Intermezzo” from Manon Lescaut, and Verdi”s “Requiem Mass”. Music Director Riccardo Muti conducts.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  From the archives, it’s the Philharmonic’s “9/11 Anniversary Broadcast”. The New York Choral Artists are featured in Brahms’ “A German Requiem” and John Adams’ “On the Transmigration of Souls”. Kurt Masur conducted the Brahms’, and Lorin Maazel conducted the Adams’.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”. Marc-Andre Hamelin is the soloist in Liszt’s “1st Piano Concerto” with the Budapest Festival Orchestra led by Ivan Fischer. Also on the program Weber’s “Overture to Der Freischutz” and Prokofiev’s “5th Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. James Ehnes is the soloist in Bruch’s “1st Violin Concerto”. Marek Janowski guest conducts.  Also on the program Wagner’s “Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde” and the “Overture and Venusberg Music from Tannhauser”.
