Monday night April 29 it's Leif Ove Andsnes as the soloist in Beethoven’s 1st Piano Concerto from Pittsburgh; Tuesday night April 30, it's Yefim Bronfman as the soloist in Prokofiev’s 2nd Piano Concerto from New York: it's a program that differs from the Patterns Magazine listing; Wednesday night May 1 it’s “Fiesta of the Guitar” and “The Orchestral Works of Astor Piazzolla” on back-to-back episodes of “Fiesta!”; then Thursday night May 2, Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the Los Angeles Philharmonic in works by Beethoven and Lutoslawski; Friday night May 3rd it’s “Prairie Performances with Roger Cooper” with the Illinois Chamber Orchestra performing music by Elgar, Copland and Golijov.
Tonight it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Guest conductor Vasily Petrenko leads the group in Nielsen’s “Maskarade” Overture and Shostakovich’s ’s 10th Symphony. Also on the program, pianist Simon Trpceski is the soloist in Edvard Grieg’s the famous ‘Piano Concerto in A minor.
