Principal Violinist Frank Almond is the soloist in Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E Minor. Gilbert Varga conducts. Also on the program, Mendelssohn’s “Hebrides” Overture, the “Italian” Symphony and the Nocturne from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.

Also on the program, Dvorak’s “Carnival Overture” and Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony.
Tonight at 7:00 on WILL it’s the Evening Concert: “Berlin Festival” from the Deutsche Welle Festival Concerts. Le Musiche Quartet plays Dvorak’s “String Quartet No. 14 in F major” written in 1893 while he was in America, thus its subtitle, the “American”. Also on the program, the Twelve Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic play tangos by Astor Piazzola.

Tonight on the Evening Concert it’s the San Francisco Symphony. with an all-Schubert program as pianist Juho Pohjonen joins principals Alexander Barantschik and others in the “Trout” Quintet. Also on the program Michael Tilson Thomas conducts the Mahler orchestration of the “Death and the Maiden” string Quartet plus the “Overture to Alfonso and Estrella”.
