The Evening Concert

Wednesday night May 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Music Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas conducts the group in Mozart’s K. 509 German Dances and Schumann’s “1st Symphony”, the “Spring”. Also on the program Tilson Thomas’ “Notturno”.

Tuesday night May 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. On the program you’ll hear Jascha Heifetz play the Sibelius “Violin Concerto”, Byron Janis play Strauss’ “Burleske”, and Jacqueline Du Pre play the Dvorak “Cello Concerto”.

Monday night May 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear a concert from October 2022 with music by Debussy, Caroline Shaw and Florence Price from the newly refurbished David Geffen Hall.

Sunday night April 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear chamber music by Debussy and Ravel on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Latin American classical music by Argentine composers García Morillo and López Buchardo on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night April 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. You’ll hear Collegium Marianum play music of Telemann, Vivaldi, Handel, Leclair, and Marais from the “Early Music Festival in Herne”.

Wednesday night April 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the fourth program in a new series from the San Francisco Symphony led by their new Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen.  You’ll hear Beethoven’s “3rd Piano Concerto” and Richard Strauss’ “Symphony for Wind Instruments”.

Tuesday night April 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Bruckner’s “8th Symphony” with guest conductor Christian Theilemann. Also on the program Wagner’s “Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde”.

Monday night April 24 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Shostakovich’s “5th Symphony” and Kodaly’s “Dances of Galanta”.  Also on the program Berg’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Christian Ferras.

Sunday night April 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Suite for Two Pianos” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear nature interpreted in Latin American classical music on “Fiesta”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. You’ll hear the opening concert from last year’s Rheingau Music Festival with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and MDR Leipzig Radio Chorus led by Alain Altinoglu in Mendelssohn’s symphony-cantata “Hymn of Praise”.
