The Evening Concert

Thursday night March 7 at 7:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear another episode of “The Sound of 13”, a program that investigates the intersection between the 13th Amendment and classical music, tonight featuring William Grant Still's "Sahdji". At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.  

Wednesday night March 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear the California Symphony led by Music Director Donato Cabrera in Berlioz's “Roman Carnival Overture”, William Walton's “1st Symphony, Ravel's “Mother Goose Suite”, and the radio world premiere of Viet Cuong's “Stargazer”, featuring pianist Sarah Cahill.

Tuesday night March 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Bernard Haitink—leads the CSO in Beethoven’s “7th” and Brahms’s “2nd” symphonies in a  2007 broadcast from the CSO’s archives. Also on the program Weber’s “Overture to ‘Der Freischütz’” and Webern’s “Passacaglia for Orchestra”.

Monday night March 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. In October of 2022 the Philharmonic returned to the newly renovated David Geffen Hall with Marcos Balter’s Oyá, followed by music of Respighi, John Adams, and Tania León.

Sunday night March 3 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on (WILL)-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Franck’s famous “Violin Sonata” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by “Music from the Pacific Coast” on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

Thursday night February 29 at 7:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear our last presentation of the Black History Month special “Take Me To The Water”. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.  

Wednesday night February 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Debussy’s “La Mer” (The Sea) from the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing. Also on the program Saint-Saens’ “2nd Piano Concerto” featuring soloist Chen Sa.

Tuesday night February 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  You’ll hear Holst’s “The Planets” and Schumann’s “Overture to Manfred”. Daniel Harding guest conducts.  Also on the program, Brahms’ “Song of Destiny”.

Monday night February 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Alan Gilbert conducts the three last symphonies of Mozart: the Symphony No. 39, the Symphony No. 40 in G Minor, and the Symphony No. 41.

Sunday night February 25 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on (WILL)-FM 90.9 you’ll hear a special program on Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” followed at 7:00 by “Women Composers from Mexico” on Fiesta and at 8:00 by “Take Me to The Water”, a Black HIstory Month special.
