The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast” with a centennial celebration of Margaret Hillis, former director of the Chicago Symphony Chorus. You’ll hear Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem”, and Bartok’s “Cantata profana”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Sheryl Staples and Cynthia Phelps are the soloist in Mozart’s “Sinfonia concertante”. Jaap van Zweden conducts. Also on the program Shostakovich’s “8th Symphony”. 

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mozart’s “Sinfonia concertante” from New York, Verdi’s “Messa da Requeim” from Chicago, Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” from Carnegie Hall, Mozart’s “Jupiter Symphony” from Los Angeles, then Sunday Beethoven’s “Razumovsky Quartet” from Lincoln Center and music of Villa-Lobos on “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear music by Bach, Vivaldi, and others on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 it’s music from Puerto Rico, Cuba, and other islands as “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari” returns”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Soprano Julia Bullock is featured in Britten’s “Les Illuminations” and Ravel’s “Three Poems of Stephane Mallarmé”.  Also on the program Ravel’s “Mother Goose” ballet music.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s another Deutsche Welle Festival Concert with a “Best of the Beethovenfest” program.  You’ll hear Alfred Brendel play Beethoven’s “4th Piano Concerto” with the Vienna Philharmonic. Also on the program music by Haydn,  Cesar Franck and Bruckner.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast” with a program they call “Great Guest Soloists”. You’ll hear Jashca Heifetz play the Sibelius “Violin Concerto”, pianist Byron Janis play Strauss’ “Burleske”, and Jacqueline du Pré  play Dvorak’s “Cello Concerto”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Inon Barnatan is the soloist in Mozart’s “23rd Piano Concerto”. Music Director Jaap van Zweden conducts. Also on the program Britten’s “Sinfonia da Requiem” and Beethoven’s “5th Symphony”.
