“An American in Paris” for two pianos and Episode 1 of “Shanghai Spring” tonight

 

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Gershwin’s “An American in Paris” two-piano version on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 Conrad Tao hosts the “Shanghai Spring International Music Festival”.

About the host Conrad Tao: Tao was born in Urbana, Illinois, in 1994. He has studied piano with Emilio del Rosario in Chicago and Yoheved Kaplinsky in New York, and composition with Christopher Theofanidis. He has appeared worldwide as a pianist and composer, and has been dubbed a musician of “probing intellect” and a “thoughtful and mature composer” by NPR. In 2011 he was named both a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and a Gilmore Young Artist. In 2012 he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. Tao's career as composer has garnered eight consecutive ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards and the Carlos Surinach Prize from BMI.
