Tonight, it’s The New York Philharmonic This Week. Christian Tetzlaff is the violin soloist in Brahm’s one-and-only Violin Concerto. Andriss Nelsons conducts. Also on the program is Dvorak’s concert overture The Noon Witch and Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra which was written 70 years ago this year.
Tonight it's the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra led by music director Edo de Waart. On the program: two works by Tchaikovsky: the Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture and the Nutcracker Suite, which sounds good any time of year (!). Also on the program: Copland’s 3rd Symphony and music of Marc Neikrug: the Los Alamos Suite.
This week on the Evening Concert it's Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet" Fantasy-Overture from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra; Brahms' Violin Concerto from the New York Philharmonic.
Nikolai Znaider is the guest conductor with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. On the program: Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Wagner’s Prelude and Love’s Death from Tristan und Isolde. Also on the program, Emanuel Ax is the piano soloist in Mozart’s 22nd Piano Concerto.
