50 Great Voices -- Help NPR Choose
In January 2010, NPR will launch a year-long exploration of 50 great voices in recorded history. Listeners nominated artists for the series. NPR and a panel of experts are in the process of whittling them down to about 100 singers -- a mix of familiar names and surprising discoveries. Click on the link to explore some of the nominated voices, and to choose five favorites you think should be included in the final 50 and tell us why.
Live and Local with Kevin Kelly

On Friday’s “Live and Local,” I’ll talk with singer-songwriter Neko Case, who appears at the Canopy Club in Urbana Friday night; flutist and dancer Kevin Locke, who performs with his Native Dance Ensemble in Springfield next Tuesday; and the Xtension Chords, who present their X-fest of a-cappella groups at the University of Illinois on Saturday.

Host Roger Cooper presents Sinfonia da Camera’s “Tales of Shakespeare” concert. Inspired by the venerable bard, it’s music for the concert hall, the dance, and Broadway. Ian Hobson conducts with Yvonne Redman, soprano; Ricardo Herrera, baritone.
