Twelve million Americans suffer from food allergies. Sandra Beasley is among them. She has multiple allergies. They are severe and have been part of her life almost from the start. When Sandra was in the fourth grade a nutritionist visiting her class said people like her were not really designed to survive. She has more than survived, going on to become an award-winning poet and writer. She will share stories from her life, stories from she tells in her book "Don’t Kill the Birthday Girl:Tales from an Allergic Life."

This time around he wants to talk about what for some people is the ultimate comfort food, macaroni and cheese. You can make it from a cardboard box, but homemade is so much better. The mandate of the modern research library is very broad. It must serve a diverse group of faculty and students, reflecting every discipline that is taught in the university and every field in which there is research. It holds very old books and very new ones in many different formats and in many different languages. We’ll look at how university libraries are working to meet these challenges, particularly the demand for publications in languages other than English.
