Precious Commodity: Providing Water for America's Cities
Martin V. Melosi, Ph.D., the Hugh Roy and Lillie Cranz Cullen University Professor of History; Director of the Center for Public History, University of Houston
Host: David Inge
Global consumption of water appears to be doubling every 20 years. That’s twice the rate of population growth. How do we manage this finite resource as the demand continues to rise? Our guest is environmental historian Martin Melosi from the University of Houston. He has written extensively on how everyday things like water and garbage affect people’s lives and how they shape our views on the environment. We’ll look at the history behind the construction and administration of water supplies and wastewater systems in urban America.
