On Saturday evening, Kirkland Fine Arts Center in Decatur will present Baka Beyond, a program of world fusion music celebrating the culture of the Baka Forest People in Cameroon. Several of their members will join us for Friday's "Live and Local," as will Justin Vickers and Judith Blazer, who perform Broadway favorites with the Danville Symphony on Saturday.
Live and Local
Anna Cromwell is the new professor of violin and viola at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, and she will be performing as half of Duo XXI on Sunday afternoon in a program of 21st-century works for violin and cello. She will be my guest on today's show, and we'll hear some music representing a few other area performances happening this week and on the weekend.
Parkland College Theatre in Champaign is currently producing Ken Ludwig's comedy "Lend Me a Tenor," which garnered seven Tony Award nominations and six Drama Desk Awards. On the Wednesday edition of "Live and Local," we'll have the director and members of the talented cast with us to present a few live scenes.
