Benjamin Britten at 100: A Symposium at Illinois State University

The British composer Benjamin Britten made his American debut by playing his First Piano Concerto in Chicago in 1940, returning to Illinois throughout his career. The year 2013 represents the centenary of his birth, and Illinois State University will play host to a multi-disciplinary symposium on all things Britten, Thursday through Sunday. I’ll welcome two of the symposium organizers, Karyl Carlson and Justin Vickers, to the Tuesday edition of “Live and Local.”
