Hedges' thesis about the liberal class is quite astute but fails to consider how he and others in the liberal establishment themselves amputate truth-tellers about 9/11. People should read Barrie Zwicker's Towers of Deception to get a better handle on Chomsky whose exaggerated reputation helps keep the antiwar movement checked. The establishment left censors itself by ridiculing valid questions-- including questions about Obama's biography, symbolized rightly or wrongly by a continuing focus on the validity of his Hawaiian birth certificate. Consider Lt. Col. Lakin who threw himself upon the gears of empire for reasons of conscience. Was he just a fool? His arrest was not of the sort that he could be arrested on a Thursday to be free to speak on a Sunday. Fool or not, one thing is certain: our media freedoms are in shambles, propaganda rules, and the establishment left exists in a bubble that only invites ridicule upon itself.

Chris is wrong about the net. The net won't replace books just as cars didn't replace shod feet.
