Bob McChesney is a research professor in the Institute of Communications Research and the Graduate School of Information and Library Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. "The media are central to all our lives," he says. "Yet the media are the most frequently misunderstood parts of our lives. We want to help people understand the role of media in society."

Pete Tridish, and Erin McCarley
Our guests this week are Pete Tridish of the Prometheus Radio Project, and Erin McCarley. They have recently returned from the World Social Forum in Venezuela and will be discussing that event with us. Pete Tridish has helped to build a number of low power radio stations, and provided advice to hundreds. He has done radio trainings in Guatemala, Colombia, Nepal, Tanzania, and other countries. He holds a BA in Appropriate Technology from Antioch College.
Erin McCarley, a masters student at the University of Texas in photojournalism, worked for Free Speech television to cover the World Social Forum.
