Bob McChesney is a research professor in the Institute of Communications Research and the Graduate School of Information and Library Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. "The media are central to all our lives," he says. "Yet the media are the most frequently misunderstood parts of our lives. We want to help people understand the role of media in society."

Our guest this week is Aaron Glantz. Glantz is an independent journalist who specializes on the impact of war on those who have experiened it directly: soldiers and civilians, aid workers and journalists. Aaron reported extensively from inside Iraq from 2003 to 2005 and has been covering veterans’ issues since his return to the United States.
Glantz is the author of forthcoming book, The War Comes Home: Washington's Battle against America's Veterans (University of California Press). In addition, he is author of the San Francisco Chronicle best-seller, How America Lost Iraq (Tarcher/Penguin), and co-author most recently of Winter Soldier Iraq and Afghanistan (Haymarket).
