For the last year and a half, a planning process called "big.small.all" has been bringing Champaign County residents together to talk about their dreams and goals for the county's future. Those dreams and goals have been presented back to the county in the form of a report called "our future.here." Now, organizers say the next step is to turn some of those dreams into reality. AM 580's Jim Meadows reports.

At age 75, former CBS News anchor Dan Rather is still reporting and traveling around the world. He just came back from Afghanistan and made his way straight to the University of Illinois, speaking to hundreds of students at Foellinger Auditorium. Rather's speech was called "Off the Record," but before that he spoke exclusively on the record with AM 580 student reporter Michael Koliska.

For more than 100 years, people have had a means to record music. But much of what was produced in the earliest years of the recording era isn't readily available,. The motto of Archeophone Records is "songs you thought were lost forever." The idea recently struck gold for the Champaign couple who conceived of the label a few years ago. AM 580's Jeff Bossert visited with the founders of the Grammy-winning label.
