Robert J. Jones Named New Chancellor For U Of I Urbana Campus

University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen has named Robert J. Jones to be the new chancellor for the University's Urbana campus, and vice-president of the three-campus U of I system.  He will become the first African-American to hold the post of chancellor in Urbana.

Current Plight For C-U Homeless Is ‘Unprecedented’

One year ago, there were 95 beds available in Champaign County for homeless men to use on an emergency basis.  Today they’re all gone, a casualty of the year-long state budget impasse. Illinois Public Media's Brian Moline spoke with Melany Jackson, chair of the Champaign County Council of Service Providers for the Homeless, about the situation.

Gun Violence, Trauma & Grief; The Old State Capitol’s Legacy; Financial Exploitation

On The 21st, we talked about the trauma and grief that families go through after losing a loved one to gun violence with a Danville father whose son was killed in a shooting ten years ago and a Chicago psychiatrist. Plus, we heard about the historical significance of the Old State Capitol in Springfield, where presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton spoke today. We also talked about financial exploitation of the elderly with the director of a law clinic begun to help those very people.
