Hung Jury Declared In Trial Of Former Illinois Football Star

The murder trial of Curtis Lovelace, accused of suffocating his first wife, Cory, has resulted in a hung jury.  The retrial for the former Adams County assistant state's attorney has been set for May 31.

Champaign Council Approves $70,000 Settlement, Third Involving Officer Rush

The three excessive force lawsuit settlements involving police officer Matt Rush total $320,000.  Concerned citizens have been calling for for Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz to file charges against Rush. Council members also may lobby with Urbana leaders for changes in the police union arbitration process.

Emanuel: Chicago Needs To ‘Root Out The Cancer’ Of Police Abuse

A day after the release of a video of a shooting of a black Chicago teenager by a white police officer, the city released documents related to the 2013 incident. Meanwhile, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel addressed the city's ongoing police shooting scandal at an annual breakfast honoring Martin Luther King Jr. on Friday.

McLean County Board Chair Indicted

McLean County Board Chairman Matt Sorensen was named in a federal court indictment Monday, accusing him of conspiring with an outside consulting firm to defraud State Farm Insurance.  He allegedly kept more than $370,000 for work that was never performed.
