U of I Trustees Prepare To Vote On Employee Background Checks

The policy would involve all new hires at the U of I's three campuses, not just those with 'security sensitive' positions.  If approved by university trustees next month, it would take effect October 5.

Arrest Follows Damages To Chabad Menorah

Damage to the symbol outside the University of Illinois' Chabad Jewish Center is estimated at about $2,269.  The menorah had already been replaced after vandals knocked it over in spring 2015.

Blagojevich Asks For More Time To Appeal To Supreme Court

Rod Blagojevich's attorneys want an appellate court to give them 90 days to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the imprisoned former governor's appeal of his corruption convictions.

Darius Paul Kicked Off Illini Basketball Team

Illinois forward Darius Paul has been kicked off the team following his arrest last week during a team trip to France. Coach John Groce announced the move in a written statement Friday.

Campus Jewish Symbol Vandalized Again

University of Illinois police are searching for the person who knocked down a the giant decorative menorah outside of a Jewish cultural center on campus. As Hannah Meisel reports, it's the second time the menorah's been damaged this year

Full Court Won’t Rehear Blagojevich Appeal

Police Release Details Of Rantoul Robbery Suspect Shooting

Rantoul and Champaign Police officials say armed robbery suspect Darius Graves was shot by a Champaign SWAT teamleader, because he appeared to be holding a gun as he ran from his motel room after a standoff. The gun turned out to be a steel pipe wrapped in cloth, but the Champaign County State's Attorney says the shooting was "legally appropriate".
