Former Soccer Player Sues U Of I Over Concussions

A former University of Illinois soccer player has joined a growing list of the school's athletes who have complained about improper medical treatment and playing conditions. Casey Conine filed a lawsuit Monday in Champaign County Circuit Court claiming she was cleared to play in October 2014 after suffering a third concussion in two years at Illinois.

Illini Baseball Postponed To Monday

Illinois, down 0-1 to Vanderbilt in their NCAA Super Regional, will try again on Monday at 3 p.m.  After waiting about an hour, Sunday's game was called with the threat of heavy storms in Central Illinois.

Vanderbilt Dominates Illini, 13-0

The rare home loss by the Illini in Saturday's NCAA Super Regional has them on the brink of elimination Sunday night.  Illinois made 3 errors, and starting pitcher Kevin Duchene was lifted after 4 innings.  Sunday's game has been moved from 8 to 5 p.m. due to the weather, and Tyler Jay has been announced as the starting pitcher.

Terri Sullivan Retires From Illinois Softball

Illinois softball head coach Terri Sullivan has announced her retirement after 16 years with the program. Sullivan was the inaugural head coach of the program starting in 2000.

Chicago Bulls Introduce Fred Hoiberg As New Coach

The Chicago Bulls made it official Tuesday, hiring Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg to replace Tom Thibodeau.  Hoiberg was long rumored as the replacement for Thibodeau, who was fired last week after five seasons.

Last Living World Series Cub Player Dies at 98

Len Merullo played shortstop for the Cubs for seven seasons, including the 1945 World Series team that lost to Detroit in 7 games.  He had returned to Wrigley Field last year to be part of the ballpark's 100th anniversary festivities.

Illini Dominate Ohio In Regional, 10-3, PPD By Rain Saturday

The Illini rallied for 5 runs in the second inning against the Bobcats, and never looked back.  The victory in the Illini's first-ever home NCAA regional sets up a game 4 matchup with Notre Dame.  That game was postponed by rain Saturday, and will be played at 3 p.m. Sunday.
