TSA Will Lift Ban Of Small Knives, Wiffle Ball Bats Aboard Planes

Airline passengers will be able to carry small knives, souvenir baseball bats, golf clubs and other sports equipment onto planes beginning next month under a policy change announced Tuesday by the head of the Transportation Security Administration.

Dwight Prison to Close by Month’s End

The Associated Press has learned the Illinois women's prison in Dwight will close by March 31 after a complicated move of hundreds of inmates, including the temporary placement of 500 prisoners in gymnasiums.

Kerry: We’re Trying To Offer Syrian President A Rational Choice

Secretary of State John Kerry is wrapping up his first official overseas trip to Europe and the Middle East. He's shifted U.S. policy on Syria, offering direct assistance to the opposition coalition and non-lethal aid to fighters. He's also offered Egypt's Islamist government $190 million to avert a budget crisis and he's warning Iran that talks can't go on indefinitely.

Gov. Quinn Prepares to Deliver Budget Address

An administration official says Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will spend part of his budget address crediting a contract agreement with Illinois' largest union for $900 million in healthcare savings.
