The head of the Catholic diocese in Rockford says parishes in his region can keep sponsoring Boy Scout troops after the scouting group's national organization said it'd start allowing openly gay members.

Champaign Street to Be Named After Erma Bridgewater

Part of Washington Street in Champaign will be soon be named for the one of biggest names in local civil rights history. The portion between Fourth and Wright Streets will become Honorary Erma Bridgewater Way.
