The Pull Of The Farm Inspires Wisconsin Writer

Michael Perry is a New York Times Bestselling author, known for his memoirs of growing up in and returning to rural Wisconsin. He is also a humorist, singer/songwriter, radio host, and intermittent pig farmer. Even with all of that he is visiting Champaign-Urbana Saturday as the keynote speaker for the Champaign Library’s Local Author Festival.

The U of I's Urbana Chancellor and Provost addressed concerns over Gov. Rauner's proposed state funding cut in Thursday's annual Town Hall meeting, but also unveiled a series of goals as part of the 2013-2016 strategic plan.

Man Charged In Champaign Shooting

The incident Wednesday afternoon is Champaign's second report of a shooting near a school in a week.  Each prompted 'soft' lockdowns at schools in the city.  20-year old Terrell Boatman faces weapons charges.

Opposition Organized Against Bill To End State University Tuition Waivers

Employees at Illinois’ public universities would lose a 50% tuition discount for their children, under a bill in the Illinois House. But employees at the University of Illinois Urbana campus --- and their state representative --- are pushing back.

Decatur and Danville Mayors Win New Terms

Decatur Mayor Michael McElroy won another term with 47 percent of the vote in a four-way race, while Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer again held off challenger James McMahon, who he defeated along with three other challengers in 2011. Eisenhauer held 63 percent of the vote in a two-way race.
