Indiana GOP Sets July 26 Vote On Pence Replacement

Indiana GOP chairman Jeff Cardwell says the 22-member Republican state committee will meet July 26 to vote on who will oppose Democratic nominee John Gregg on the November ballot, now that incumbent Gov. Mike Pence has withdrawn in order to be Donald Trump's running mate.

Unit 4 Centennial ‘Town Hall’ Brings Out Referendum Backers

The second of two open house-style 'town hall' meetings over the future of Champaign Unit 4's facilities brought out a lighter crowd than the previous one, but a mostly enthusiastic response to supporting a bond issue of around $200 million this fall. Around 50 attended Thursday's event at Centennial High School.

Scores Dead After Truck Plows Into Bastille Day Crowd In Nice, France

A truck loaded with weapons and hand grenades has plowed through a crowd of people on a sidewalk in the French resort city of Nice during Bastille Day, killing at least 80 people. Local officials say the truck was on the sidewalk for more than a mile before police killed the driver.  Anti-terrorist investigators have taken over the case.

Comptroller: With Stop-Gap Funds, State Backlog Will Be $10B

Illinois Comptroller Leslie Munger says the state's backlog of unpaid bills will be roughly $10 billion by the year's end after factoring in the temporary spending plan lawmakers recently approved.
