U Of I Trustees Approve $600,000 Settlement With Salaita, He Will Not Teach At University

The professor whose job offer was rescinded over a series of messages about Israel on Twitter is expected to receive a lump-sum payment of $600,000, plus $275,000 in legal fees, but will not be hired by the U of I. Trustees approved the settelement 9-1 at their meeting in Chicago. The only 'no' vote came from Trustee Tim Koritz.

Clinton Landfill Consent Decree Filed In Court

A consent decree limiting what types of waste can go into the Clinton Landfill was entered in DeWitt County Court Thursday, ending a legal dispute between the facility and a coalition of 14 local governments concerned about the potential threat to the Mahomet Aquifer.

Tim Nugent, The ‘Father of Accessibility’ at U of I, Dies at 92

Nugent died Wednesday morning.  For years, he advocated for wheelchair-accessible buses, curb cuts, and other amenities that those with disabilities have now used for many years.  His time with the U of I goes back to the late 1940's, when he helped wounded veterans coming back from World War II.
