Obama Twitter Account Hacked

A nonprofit political advocacy group which emanated from President Barack Obama's re-election campaign says hackers altered the links contained in tweets sent under his name.

Pantries, Shelters Feeling Pinch Of Food Stamp Cut

Food pantries and homeless shelters say they are beginning to notice repercussions of a reduction in food stamps that will take effect Friday, Nov. 1. A temporary hike in benefits that kicked in during the recession expires this week.

Gov. Quinn Asks Lawmakers For An Extra $221 Million

Gov. Pat Quinn's administration wants lawmakers to approve $221 million in extra funds to spend this fiscal year. The request comes on top of the $35 billion budget the Legislature approved in May.

Lou Reed, Beloved Contrarian, Dies

One of rock's most beloved and contrarian figures has died. Lou Reed epitomized New York City's artistic underbelly in the 1970s, with his songs about hookers and junkies. He was 71.
