House Passes 30-Day Budget, Returns To Senate

House Democrats Thursday approved a 30-day budget, sending it back to the Senate.  But Governor Bruce Rauner has been on record saying he won't sign a temporary budget, calling this one "unbalanced."


The door on a grain bin remains open following an accident in Story County, Iowa on July 11, 2005, which killed a 72-year-old Nevada, Iowa man after he and two others were loading a semitrailer with grain.

Illinois Court Upholds Ruling In Fatal Grain Bin Accident

An appellate court upheld the $16 million judgment awarded to two families after the 2010 accident in northwest Illinois that claimed two lives.  A third co-worker survived.

Illinois House Moves Forward On Temporary Budget

Illinois House Democrats say they intend to pass a budget Thursday that would cover many state services through the month. But Governor Bruce Rauner would not say Wednesday if he would veto the plan.

Judge: No Pay For Illinois Workers Without State Budget

A Cook County judge has ruled that Illinois can't pay state workers in full during the ongoing budget impasse.  Some workers covered under federal law will receive federal minimum wage plus overtime.
