Thousands Protest Rauner’s Call To Change Labor Laws

On Wednesday, about 8,000 union supporters rallied at the Illinois Capitol to protest Gov. Bruce Rauner's calls to change collective bargaining policies. A coalition of labor groups marched by the governor's
mansion on their way to the Capitol.  Both Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton took the stage.

Illinois’ Nunn Pleads Guilty To Misdemeanor, Gets Probation

Illinois basketball junior guard Kendrick Nunn pleaded guilty to a mismeanor charge of battery, and could eventually see his record cleared. He was sentenced to 18 months unsupervised probation and 100 hours of community service.

Solar Power In Illinois; STEM Mentorship Program

On the 21st: The solar panels on one man's Champaign home generate enough electricity for the house and the cars - and feed the grid. Illinois towns and residents are turning toward the sun for power and we talked about howmuch they are saving. Also, a STEM mentorship program helps high school students from across the state get connected with mentors in academia and industry.

U Of I Professors Protest Gov. Rauner’s IBHE Nomination

Some faculty aren't happy with the appointment of former Republican Senate candidate and Champaign Unit 4 School Board member John Bambenek to the Illinois Board of Higher Education.  Members of the Urbana campus Senate Executive Committee are drafting a letter protesting the nomination to the Rauner administration.

Gov. Rauner Vetoes Illinois Union Arbitration Bill

Governor Bruce Rauner has vetoed legislation to allow an arbitrator to settle state-employee wages and working conditions if union negotiations stall.  In his veto message Monday, the Republican governor called the bill "dangerous," adding it would replace his bargaining power with a union-friendly arbitrator.
