Decatur Conference Center and Hotel owner Steve Horve says former Argosy Gaming Co. executives Joe Urman and Jeff Roberts are interested in opening a satellite or mini-casino in his facility, if lawmakers in Springfield approve a gambling expansion bill that includes a license for Decatur.

Former Illini Cvijanovic Details Departure From Team On HBO

Former Illini linebacker Simon Cvijanovic, whose complaints led to the firing of football coach Tim Beckman and athletic director Mike Thomas, was interviewed for a Tuesday segment on HBO's "Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel."  He said there's 'no doubt' team doctors conspired with coaches for him to keep playing despite injuries.

Cuts Announced At WIU, EIU

The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees voted Monday to authorize staff reductions for the the upcoming fiscal year. Meanwhile, the president of Eastern Illinois University announced a series of immediate cuts, including the possible imposition of unpaid furloughs and layoffs.

Unit 4 School Board Secures Options On Sites Near Central High

The Champaign School Board now holds options on eight sites near Central High School, which doesn't mean Unit 4 will necessarily purchase the properties, but has an 18-month window to decide.  An advisory committee is being formed that will meet almost weekly, discussing possible expansion in the area, with a report due in May.
