States Experiment With Health Savings Accounts For Medicaid

If all goes according to plan, next year many Arkansas Medicaid beneficiaries will be required to make monthly contributions to so-called Health Independence Accounts. Those who don't may have to pay more of the cost of their medical services, and in some cases may be refused services.

Totals In Homeless Survey Slightly Up, But More Finding Shelter

Teresa Webb, 50, has been homeless for the last eight months. She gets supplies from the Salvation Army truck in Champaign on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.

Each year, social service agencies in Champaign County conduct a survey of the area’s homeless population.  The one done on a frigid night in January revealed 222 people were living on the streets.
