EIU President Says Spring Semester Is Certain, Despite Rumors

A university spokesperson said a letter sent to campus by EIU President David Glassman is meant to quell rumors on social media that the state budget impasse might force the university in Charleston to shut down during the spring, 2016 semester.

Champaign Centennial Student Arrested In Bus Incident

The male student allegedly showed off the butt of an unloaded BB gun on a school bus, claiming it was a hand grenade while on the way to Centennial High School Monday.  Champaign Police located the bus, and the student is now in juvenile detention, charged with disorderly conduct.

Macon County Board Approves Clinton Landfill Consent Decree

The Macon County Board is the 13th member of a 14-goverment coalition to endorse a proposed consent decree to keep PCB's and future manufactured gas plant waste out of the Clinton Landfill.
