Crop Insurance Programs Subject Of Intense Farm Bill Lobbying

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the 2014 Farm Bill will raise government funding of crop insurance by about $5.7 billion from 2014 to 2023. A joint analysis revealed the lobbying efforts behind that expansion.

After two years of debate, the U.S. Congress passed a Farm Bill this year that replaced direct subsidies to farmers with an ever increasing multi-billion dollar federal crop insurance program.

Obama: 1 American Among Dead In Airline Crash In Ukraine

President Obama said that at least one U.S. citizen, who he identified as Lucas Schansman, is among the dead in the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine on Thursday.
