Heroin In Central Illinois; DeWitt County Human Resource Center; New Pediatric Sleep Guidelines

On the 21st: we talked about heroin use in Central Illinois with two Bloomington-Normal Pantagraph reporters and a Pontiac woman who was addicted for a decade and lost loved ones to the drug; we learned of the impending closure of a mental health treatment center in central Illinois; and we also talked about new guidelines for pediatric sleep, for children from infants to age 18.

Judge Orders PTSD As Part Of Illinois Medical Cannabis Program

A Cook County judge ruled Tuesday that Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder be added to the qualifying conditions for Illinois' medical marijuana pilot program within 30 days. The ruling stems from a complaint filed by Army Veteran Dan Jabs of Urbana. The judge said Illinois Department of Public Health Director Nirav Shah violated agency rules, and violated Jabs' procedural due rights process.

U Of I Employees Learn Of Possible Health Benefit Changes

The first of three meetings regarding University of Illinois health insurance premiums raised the prospect that some premiums could double. Katie Ross, Senior Director of Human Resources Administration at the university, says there's "generally a lot of uncertainty" at this point.

New Illinois Raw Milk Guidelines; A Misting Flu Vaccine; Higher Ed Funding

On The 21st: New regulations for the sale of raw milk in Illinois go into effect July 1 - but raw milk producers and consumers are not happy about it. We talked with a producer of raw milk, someone to explain the new guidelines and representatives from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Center for Disease Contol and Prevention about why they believe raw milk is a risky thing to consume. Plus, a CDC panel tells doctors not to give the flu vaccine as a nasal spray this year. And we looked at higher education funding in Illinois as we come close to opening another fiscal year with no budget in the state.

Van Dyke ‘Steps In Time’ Before The Home Crowd

After the Danville High School show choir performed some of the best-known songs from his movie musicals, 1944 graduate Dick Van Dyke took to the stage to talk about the importance of supporting the arts, and performed songs with his quartet, the Vantastix. Friday night's sellout performance marked the start of fundraising efforts for the Dick Van Dyke Foundation.
