Gifford Pantry In Need Of More Donations

Organizers of a pantry used to assist victims of the November tornado in Gifford say they’re in need of more supplies.

Christina Gann helps manage tornado relief efforts at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gifford. She said items at the church's pantry like canned fruits and vegetables, cleaning supplies, and paper plates are in high demand.

“We want the community to be aware that this is something that the families are constantly using,” Gann said. “It is still a need out there, and it is still something that we’re wanting to offer as a service to these families that are going through so much.”

Gann oversees a committee of relief organizations working to match the needs of people affected by the storm with available resources. She said that committee meets in February with storm victims.

Meanwhile, there is a Gifford tornado relief concert planned Friday at 7pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Champaign.
