Quincy Gems Beat Dans for Chance At Prospect League Champaionship

 

The Danville Dans’ playoff hopes ended Wednesday night, with a 5 to 2 loss to the Quincy Gems at Danville Stadium.

The Gems won their Prospect League West Division playoff series with the Dans, 2 games to none. The Gems broke a 2-2 tie with three unanswered runs in the 9th inning.

Meanwhile, the West Virginia Miners swept their East Division playoff series with the Chillicothe Paints, with a 3 to nothing win Wednesday night at Epling Stadiuim in Beckley, West Virginia.

The Quincy Gems and West Virginia Miners are now set to play for the Prospect League championship. Both teams have won the championship in the collegiate-league before. The Gems won the title in 2009 and 2011, and the Miners were the winners last year.

Game One of the best-of-three Prospect League series will be held Saturday, August 10th at QU Stadium in Quincy. Game Two will be held Monday, August 12th  in West Virginia. Game Three, if needed, will also be played in West Virginia, on Tuesday, August 13th.
