Autopsy Planned On Body Found In Farmer City

 

An autopsy is planned on the body of a rural central Illinois man who was found dead in an alley during a festival in Farmer City.

DeWitt County Sheriff Jered Shofner identified the man as 21-year-old Blayne J. Benefield of rural Farmer City.  The Pantagraph in Bloomington reports that an autopsy is planned Monday.

A pedestrian found his body Saturday morning.

The town of about 2,000 was hosting its Heritage Days festival. County officers and Illinois State Police worked at the crime scene while the festival went on nearby.

Sheriff's officials have a suspect in custody  The name hasn't been released, but is expected to appears in court Monday. Illinois State Police, the county sheriff and Farmer City police are investigating.
