Danville Forums to Feature Vermilion County Candidates

Illinois’ new legislative district map has more districts sharing Vermilion County this year than during the past decade.. And candidates in all of those legislative races are invited to speak at two candidate forums scheduled for this Thursday evening and next Thursday in Danville.

Mike Hulvey, of event co-sponsor Neuhoff Communications, says that so far, they’ve received confirmations for tonight from GOP incumbent Chad Hays and his Democratic challenger Michael Langendorf, who are running in the 104th Illinois House District, and Democratic State Sen. Mike Frerichs and his GOP rival John Bambenek, who are competing in the 52nd state Senate District..

Hulvey said the topic of of the first forum will be rural issues, which he says is suitable, considering it will be held at the Vermilion County Farm Bureau building on U-S Route 150, west of Danville. Hulvey said the state budget may also be discussed.

Hulvey said the 2nd forum will be held the following Thursday, Oct. 25 at Danville’s Village Mall. At that time, the focus will be on the economy and economic development, the state budget and education.

In addition to Neuhoff Communications, the Vermilion County Farm Bureau and Vermilion Advantage are sponsoring the candidate forums.

The public is invited to attend the forums. Both of them will start at 7 PM. They will also be aired on Danville’s WDAN Radio, and be streamed and archived at VermilionCountyFirst.com.
