Donnelly: Kassig Made Extraordinary Sacrifices

Indiana U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly says he and his family are heartbroken for the parents of an American aid worker who was beheaded by Islamic State militants.

The Indiana Democrat says he can think of no greater tragedy than losing a child. Donnelly says 26-year-old Peter Kassig, who converted to Islam and took the first name Abdul-Rahman while in captivity, will be remembered as someone who made extraordinary sacrifices to assist others in need.
 
Donnelly urged Indiana residents to continue to pray for Ed and Paula Kassig of Indianapolis as they mourn the loss of their son.

Indiana Republican U.S. Sen. Dan Coats says he's "appalled'', and called Kassig's death a "tragic murder'' and said his life was "cut short by savage barbarians who terrorize the innocent.''
