U of I’s McFadden Wins Wheelchair Women Div. Of NYC Marathon; Josh George Places 2nd In Men’s

University of Illinois graduate Tatyana McFadden won the Women’s Wheelchair Division of the New York City Marathon Sunday, crossing the finish line at one hour, 43 minutes and 4 seconds. In the Men’s Wheelchair Division, the U of I’s Josh George placed second, finishing at 1:30:55, behind Ernst Van Dyk of South Africa, who won the division with a time of 1:30:54.
For McFadden, the win in New York City marked the third year that she had taken Women’s Wheelchair Division victories in the New York, Chicago, Boston and London Marathons.
Finishing 8th, 9th and 10th in the Men’s Wheelchair Division of the New York City Marathon were three other U of I wheelchair athletes: Aaron Levi Pike (1:36:45), Brian Siemann (1:36:50) and James Senbeta (1:38:39).
