Jimmy John’s Agrees To End Non-Compete Deals In Illinois

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says the Jimmy John's sandwich chain has agreed to stop requiring low-level employees to sign agreements preventing them from seeking jobs with competitors. Madigan said in a news release Wednesday that the Champaign-based chain also agreed to inform its employees that previously signed agreements will not be enforced and to tell franchise owners to rescind any existing agreements.

Jimmy John’s Sells Majority Stake To Equity Firm

The Champaign-based sandwich chain has announced it's sold a majority stake in the company to Atlanta-based private equity firm Roark Capital Group. There will be no changes to management, as founder Jimmy John Liataud will continue to remain as chairman of the company's board and the largest individual shareholder. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Illinois AG Madigan Sues Jimmy John’s Over Worker Non-Compete Clause

The Attorney General's lawsuit against two corporate entities of the Champaign-based sandwich chain is over non-compete agreements on its employees, which keeps them from working at any sandwich business within two miles of any Jimmy John's in the country - both during the employment, and for two years after. But the company later issued a statement, says it's no longer enforcing the agreements, removing the language from paperwork for new hires.
