Since being named University of Illinois Athletic Director on the Urbana campus in February 2016, Josh Whitman has been busy. Very busy. Whitman discussed his "whirlwind" first year on the job with Illinois Public Media's Brian Moline.

Former Illini linebacker Simon Cvijanovic, whose complaints led to the firing of football coach Tim Beckman and athletic director Mike Thomas, was interviewed for a Tuesday segment on HBO's "Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel."  He said there's 'no doubt' team doctors conspired with coaches for him to keep playing despite injuries.

U of I Athletic Director Mike Thomas announced he was dismissing head football coach Tim Beckman, following preliminary results of an external review into allegations about the football program.  Offensive coordinator Bill Cubit, who's been with the program since 2013, is taking over as interim head coach.

The National Labor Relations Board Monday dismissed a ruling that Northwestern football players are school employees and entitled to unionize.

In the wake of allegations from a former U of I player, two Chicago Tribune reporters reached out to every other one during coach Tim Beckman's era at the school.  Of the 50 who responded, many alumni were critical, and current players came to Beckman's defense.
