University of Illinois To Test All Students But Is It Enough?

Illinois Newsroom

Colleges are preparing to reopen this fall and they’re facing a lot of big questions. One of them is: How are they going to keep their campus and the surrounding communities safe -- as tens of thousands of students return for classes in a few short weeks. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is planning reopening for a hybrid of in-person and online classes — and the campus has been rolling out a massive COVID-19 testing program.

To learn more about the plan, The 21st is joined by a reporter following the story, an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign student.

Guests:

Christine Herman, Health reporter for Illinois Newsroom/WILL and Side Effects Public Media

Becky Smith, Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Dennis Austin, Student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
