State Senate Approves Democrat-Backed Budget Package

The Illinois Senate has approved a $5 billion income tax increase to fund what Democrats say would be a balanced, $37.3 billion budget.  

A Democratic majority pushed the measures through despite opposition from Republicans.

Drug Court To Honor Graduates Who Complete ‘Hardest’ Assignment

On Wednesday, four people whose substance abuse led to felony convictions will celebrate a year of sobriety when they graduate from Champaign Country Drug Court, in a 2:30 PM ceremony at the Urbana Civic Center.

Cleve Heidelberg Released After 47 Years

When Cleve Heidelberg woke up in his jail cell Monday morning, he didn’t know he’d be stepping outside hours later in civilian clothing. In fact, Heidelberg was notified just minutes before that he’d be released, for the first time in 47 years.
