We'll also hear some live music by oboist John Dee of the University of Illinois faculty, who will play a recital Wednesday night.

Reggie Britton and his band Black Magic Johnson

Springfield's Reggie Britton had his first drumming and singing gigs with his father's blues band when he was a teenager. He played in numerous local bands as a side man in the 80s and 90s until forming his own duo, which he called Black Magic Johnson. The band now works variously as a trio or quartet, specializing in Chicago and delta blues, and they keep a steady performing schedule. Black Magic Johnson will play for us live on the Friday edition of Live and Local.
