Mike Boedicker’s film “Revolting”; Dracula the Undead

Mike Boedicker's film "Revolting" is a dark comedy about a playwright struggling to write a sequel to his lone hit. Filmed in Danville and Champaign, with a mostly Baroque score, it will be shown in Champaign next weekend. Mr. Boedicker will join me on the Friday edition of "Live and Local." And we'll hear some scenes from Rantoul Theatre Group's original production Dracula the Undead.

The music of Django Reinhardt at the upcoming Champaign-Urbana Folk and Roots Festival

Jean "Django" Reinhardt was a Gypsy jazz guitarist whose compositions and performances have been tremendously influential on many subsequent jazz musicians. A trio based in Champaign-Urbana plays the Music of Django Reinhardt regularly, including this Sunday at the Iron Post and at the upcoming Champaign-Urbana Folk and Roots Festival. They'll play for us live on the Tuesday edition of "Live and Local.

Upcoming season of Sinfonia da Camera

Sinfonia da Camera is the resident chamber orchestra at the Krannert Center in Urbana. On the Monday edition of "Live and Local," I'll talk with music director Ian Hobson about the group's new season, opening next Saturday, which carries out a theme of music used in films-an intriguing concept that covers some great classics.

Sacred Harp singing; Tiempo Libre

It has been said of Sacred Harp singing, "It wallops your stomach, vibrates your spine, makes the inside of your head buzz." The Harp singing tradition is alive in central Illinois, and we'll hear about it on the Friday edition of "Live and Local." I'll also talk with the leader of the Grammy-nominated Latin band Tiempo Libre, who open the Krannert Center's season in Urbana on Friday night.

The Hot Club of Detroit; Violist and composer Rudolf Haken

The Hot Club of Detroit is a terrific five-piece band inspired by the spirit of Django Reinhardt. They'll visit the Iron Post in Urbana on Sunday night, and band member Paul Brady will join us on the Thursday edition of "Live and Local." I'll also talk with violist and composer Rudolf Haken about his upcoming solo recital.
