Champaign Council Endorses Former Hotel Demolition

UPDATE: The Champaign City Council gave its initial approval to plans to demolish the old Gateway Studios hotel, at their Tuesday, July 23rd study session. Council members are expected to vote on a final demolition proposal in the fall.

Detroit Files For Bankruptcy

The city of Detroit has filed the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history, seeking from creditors and unions owed some $18.5 billion in debt and liabilities.

Illinois, Livingston Co. Staff To Tour Closed Prison

State officials are set to visit the closed Dwight Correctional Center next week as the Livingston County sheriff tries to get permission to use a portion of the facility to house hundreds of inmates.
