‘Critical Conversations’ Events Aim To Bridge Divide Over Chief Illiniwek

To some, Chief Illiniwek is an honored symbol of the University of Illinois that should be preserved. And to others, he’s a racist stereotype that had to go. The University of Illinois hosted the first of a series of “Critical Conversations” events, which aim to help the campus and community move forward more than a decade after the Chief was retired.

C-U Area Students Host Town Hall On Gun Violence

A student organized town hall on gun violence attracted a crowd of more than 100 people to the Champaign Public Library Thursday night. The event was hosted by students from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and five area high schools.
